Who do you prefer to win?

On the 4th of July 2006 I was watching the soccer world cup semi-final between Germany and Italy.

Germany was also the host nation of this world cup.  If after 90 minutes of regular play the score is a draw, an additional 30-minute period of play, called extra time, is added. I watched the full 90 minutes and the first 15 minutes of the extra time – and the score was still 0-0.

Quick history:  I am from German and French descent.  My ancestry comes from the Rossouw Family the Huguenots which arrived in South Africa in 1688.  My Mother, French descent, my father German descent.  The Huguenots come to South Africa to escape the religious persecution – because they believed in the name of our Messiah – Jesus or Yeshua. Because of HIS NAME – My family was send to South Africa for a divine purpose, and today I am a South African – born on this soil because My Maker wanted me to be here – for a time such as this!Back to the game:

Because He trains us to became kings, rulers and reigners - He will let you participate and let you make decisions in events or circumstances when He chooses to – to train you and also test your wisdom in decision making.

Now during the last 5 minutes of the 2nd 15 minutes of extra time – I had an awesome experience.  – I clearly heard

“Who do you prefer to win”?

When I heard this question, I was in disbelieve that I heard this question – Why would the Lord ask me something like this?  Why would He even care about soccer?

Then immediately I heard it again

“Who do you prefer to win?”

With the second time hearing the question – I immediately begin to think the answer …

“Anybody but the Germans or the French” – because of the persecution they inflicted on my forefathers – they escaped to South Africa…

thus resulting in shaping a whole difference set of circumstances for me…. And as I was thinking this in the 118 minute of the game… Italy kicked their first goal.  I was in total awe because I was just thinking my answer to the question – and I then thought but this goal is “by change”– and then within the 120 minutes of the game (less then 2 minutes after the 1st goal) – Italy then kicked the final nail in the coffin.

Italy Winning the game 2-0… in the last 2 minutes of the 120 minutes, last 2 minutes of the extra time.  All this happen from the first question – the repeat of the question and the two goals all within the last 5 minutes of this 120 minute game.  I was totally overwhelmed.

During the Final of this 2006 Soccer world cup it was France vs Italy – and I reminded the Lord to the answer of the question – His question being: “Who do you prefer to win?” and My answer “– “Anybody but the Germans or the French” – and Italy won this 2006 world cup beating the French with a penalty shoot-out.

What I learned from this experience was The Lord wants you

to think Big and wants you to think outside the Box

and allow Him to ask for your opinion or council in a situation.  If you are called to rule and reign with Him – He will train you and test you in experiences like this.  Your thoughts or decisions in His will can influence nations and people.
